I was trying out a shared office near my sonโ€™s baseball practice.

Somewhere I could work while he was on the field.

At one point, I thought about finishing early to watch him.

But a little voice inside said, โ€œStay a little longer.โ€

So I kept working.

As I was leaving, the office manager asked how I had found the place.

He had welcomed me earlier, and we had discovered we knew a mutual friend.

This time, the conversation went a little further.

He asked what I did.

I explained how we support regional aircraft operators with spares and repairs at Zooey Aerospace.

That brought someone to his mind.

A friend developing an initiative to connect buyers and sellers.

He offered to introduce us.

I thanked him.

I had come looking for a place to work.

I was leaving with a connection I could never have planned.

Will it lead somewhere?

I donโ€™t know yet.

But the conversation stayed with me.

Lately, I notice that the more attentively I listen, the more possibilities I hear.

A passing comment becomes a question.

A question becomes a conversation.

And sometimes, a conversation opens a door.

Perhaps the opportunities were there before.

Perhaps I am becoming better at noticing them.

In aviation, we often begin with a part number, a repair requirement or a deadline.

Listening a little longer helps us understand the person behind that request.

What is worrying them.

What they need to achieve.

Where another connection might help.

That is how I want us to keep building Zooey Aerospace.
Through curiosity, care and conversations that have room to go somewhere unexpected.
A Part of Your Life.

When did an ordinary conversation last lead somewhere unexpected for you?

Share your story below.

A few quick takeaways:

Q: Can we plan a chance encounter?

A: No, but we can leave room for a conversation.

Q: What helps us notice opportunities?

A: Listening with curiosity and asking one more question.

Q: How does this shape Zooeyโ€™s support?

A: We listen beyond the part number to understand the need.
